Dolphins Class

.Summer 1  This half term our topic is Reflection and we are looking at and exploring Space. Our focus story is Man on the Moon.

Chimps Class

Maths

In our base we learn through number songs and rhymes, jigsaws, shape sorters, building blocks, connecting toys and exploring numerals in our environment. 

We participate in a range of activities including matching quantity to numeral, creating number bonds using numicon, finding 3D shapes in the environment and creating patterns.

Phonics

In our base we learn through phonics songs, interactive whiteboard games, letter sound matching games and flashcards.

We participate in a range of activities including listening for sounds in our environment, identifying the sounds animals make, creating different sounds with musical instruments and matching letter sounds to objects.

Literacy

In our base we learn to make marks using various media, pens, pencils, whiteboards and crayons. We develop our fine motor skills using tweezers, pipettes, threading and posting activities.

We participate in a range of activities including sharing books with adults, joining in with familiar actions and rhymes, sequencing stories, identifying main characters and retelling stories.

Reading

In our base we learn through Objects of Reference, Symbols, Communication Books, Photographs, Wayfinders and books.  

We participate in a range of activities including group story time, time in the library, 1:1 reading sessions and matching OoR's, photographs or symbols to geographical locations around school. 

Due to the current guidelines relating to COVID 19 we will not be participating in swim sessions for the time being. We will update you as and when this advice changes. 

Also in response to COVID 19 we will be spending more time learning outdoors. Our children enjoy outdoor learning and although we will be heading into the colder months, if we are prepared we can still enjoy our outdoor spaces. Please pack (and label) appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear. Where possible this would include; a waterproof coat, trousers and wellington boots. If you wish these to be sent home daily or weekly please advise the teacher or a member of your class team.
