Autumn Thompson
Assistant Head
I began my journey in education at Chellow in 2017, where I trained as a teacher and was incredibly fortunate to begin my career straight after qualifying. I started in Early Years, which quickly became a passion of mine and over the past nine years I have had the privilege of teaching across all pathways within the school. Each stage of my journey has shaped my understanding of how children learn best and strengthened my belief in truly inclusive, meaningful education.
I am passionate about creating learning experiences that are engaging, playful and purposeful. I particularly enjoy approaches such as learning through play, child-led learning, Attention Autism and sensory and messy exploration. I believe children thrive when learning feels fun, immersive and hands on and I always aim to bring creativity and curiosity into every part of the curriculum.
In 2024, I took on the role of Assistant Headteacher, which gave me the opportunity to lead the Green Formal Pathway for two years – an experience I found both rewarding and inspiring. In January 2026, I moved into leading the Red Pathway, as well as taking on the role of Lead DSL. I am deeply committed to supporting both the learning and wellbeing of every child and to ensuring they feel safe, understood and valued every day here at Chellow Heights School.
