Catherine Astwood-Haslam
Deputy Headteacher
With 30 years of experience in education across mainstream, SEMH and alternative provision settings, I am passionate about creating inclusive learning environments where every young person can thrive. My background is in English and Music, and throughout my career I have held a range of leadership roles, including Head of Year and SENDCo within secondary education. However, I have always felt most at home within special education, where building strong relationships and understanding individual needs are at the heart of successful learning.
At CHS, I oversee Teaching and Learning, the whole-school curriculum, and also serve as a Safeguarding Lead. I am a strong advocate for celebrating difference and individuality, and I believe that every child and family deserves the opportunity to achieve the best possible quality of life. My work is driven by a commitment to ensuring that happiness, wellbeing and meaningful success remain central to everything we do.
