Assistant Head

Hello, my name is Ellie and I am an assistant headteacher at Chellow Heights Special School. I am currently the Blue pathway lead for our students on a semi-formal curriculum, a deputy safeguarding lead, sensory impairment lead and accredited team teach tutor. I have worked in education for over 12 years, qualifying as a teacher in 2014 with a specialism in Early Years Education. I have always been passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs, and shortly after qualifying, I began my teaching career at Chellow Heights School. I have progressed in my career at Chellow Heights School from a newly qualified teacher to a senior leader, developing strong leadership skills and deepening my educational expertise. 

My professional interests include working with pupils in the Early Years, welcoming new families into our school community and supporting them to ensure they feel heard, empowered, and equipped to help their children thrive both in and beyond education. I’m also interested in supporting children with complex health and medical needs, supporting pupils with visual impairments, multi-sensory impairments and those who are hard of hearing. 

My ethos as an SEND teacher is rooted in inclusion, compassion and high expectations, ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
