Attendance
At Chellow Heights School, we understand that many of our pupils face additional barriers to attendance. We work closely with families, health professionals and external agencies to ensure every child can access education in a way that meets their individual needs.
We believe that every day in school provides opportunities for learning, communication, social development, belonging and wellbeing. Regular attendance helps pupils build routines, strengthen relationships and make sustained progress towards their individual outcomes.

Chellow Heights are proud to be signed up to Bradford District Schools Attendance Charter:
At Chellow Heights we do expect pupils to attend school every day, as long as they are fit and well enough to do so. If you child is not well enough to attend school, we expect families to contact the school office as soon as possible giving a specific reason for the absence.
Because we have a duty of care for safeguarding your child, we will contact you if we do not receive a call on a daily basis to ensure we know your child is safe.

Bradford Council have an online system for requesting leave of absence for pupils. This makes the process simpler and more consistent for all families.
If you wish to request leave for your child, please complete the online Leave of Absence Request Form 2 weeks before the first day of absence – unless there is a specific reason why the request is submitted at short notice.
This form can be found on Bradford Council’s website.
You can also access the form here: Term-Time Child/children Absence Request Form
Only one form needs to be submitted per family, regardless of the number of adults or children, or whether your children attend different schools.
| You will also need to complete a form for school. Please ask at reception and they will provide you with the form. |
Once your form has been submitted, our school will review the request in line with our attendance policy. You will be notified by email as to whether the request has been authorised or unauthorised.
